Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) ScholarshipsUnder the Linkage Projects scheme, the ARC offers postgraduate awards and fellowships to provide industry-oriented research training and enable postdoctoral researchers to pursue internationally competitive research opportunities in collaboration with industry.Linkage Projects awards and fellowships offered by the ARC are:
Research AgreementARC Linkage Projects grants (including any APAI component) cannot commence and funding cannot be expended, until a partner organisation agreement has been entered into by all organisations involved in the project. Please refer to http://www.monash.edu.au/research/academics/funding/post-award/industry-partner-agreements.htmlHowever, APAI vacancies can be advertised during the partner agreement negotiations in order to help ensure that suitable candidates are identified and able to commence before the last date for commencement (see below). How to locate and appoint a suitable candidateCandidates must meet the criteria outlined in the relevant ARC Linkage Projects Funding Rules and Funding Agreement under which the grant was awarded.Please refer to Appendix 3 of the ARC Linkage Projects Funding Rules and Schedule D of the ARC Linkage Projects Funding Agreement for the relevant year (for example, for all projects with a Project ID beginning with ‘LP08’ the Funding Rules and Funding Agreement for funding commencing in 2008 apply). The conditions set out in these documents apply to APAI students. Where they are silent on a matter, all other Monash University APA/MGS Scholarship Conditions of Award apply. Chief Investigators are encouraged to advertise nationally on the JASON database. A proforma to advertise on the JASON database is available. Completed proformas should be sent to mrgs@adm.monash.edu.au. H2A Equivalence FormThe nominated candidate should have an appropriate Honours 1 or high 2A (or equivalent) undergraduate degree. Chief Investigators must complete an H2A equivalence form (rtf 166kb) or (pdf 43kb) for candidates with qualification below high H2A. Nominations will be assessed by the Monash Research Graduate School Steering Committee.Nomination FormAPA (I) nomination form (rtf 257kb) or (pdf 59kb).APA (Industry) scholarship nomination forms are to be completed and returned to Monash Research Graduate School Steering Committee for consideration. Please ensure that the relevant faculty representative on the Monash Research Graduate School Committee has endorsed the nomination form. The list of faculty representatives is available from the Research Graduate School website. Certified copies of academic transcripts (if qualification is obtained at an institution other than Monash) and documentary evidence of citizenship or permanent residency must be attached. Candidates must also apply for candidature in the usual manner. For Masters candidates, please contact the relevant faculty. Once approval is granted for projects to commence, candidates must provide a commencement form, and banking details form (rtf 185kb) or (pdf 35kb) for scholarship payments to commence. Partner Organisation FundsEnquiries regarding the creation of fund accounts for Partner Organisation cash contributions should be referred to the Monash Research Office: Prisca Cradick, tel: 9905 3074APAI commencementAPAIs must commence in the first year of the project. The last date for commencement of an APAI project is:For Projects funded in Round 1: by no later than 30 September of the year indicated in the Project ID (eg for LP08 grants, by 30 Sept 2008) For Projects funded in Round 2: by no later than 31 March in the year following (eg for LP08 grants, by 31 March 2009). Written permission must be obtained from the ARC to defer the commencement beyond the stipulated last date for commencement. Failure to do so may result in the ARC recovering funding.
