International StudentsEligibilityInternational students are eligible for the Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS), the Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS), the Monash International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (MIPRS) and the Vera Moore International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VMIPRS). Students previously sponsored by AusAID are not eligible for scholarships, unless they have returned home for a period of two years following the completion of the AusAID-funded studies. Faculties are asked to consider carefully the nomination of overseas candidates for MGS and/or IPRS or MIPRS. Departments/faculties are asked to ensure that overseas candidates listed on faculty Order-of-Merit lists have been contacted and have assured the department that they are likely to be in a position to take up an award despite the full fee charge and despite the requirement that all award holders should commence their course by 31 March. In exceptional circumstances commencement may be deferred beyond this date to 30 June providing a request is fully supported by the department and faculty. Application for Student Visa - international studentsFrom 1 July 2001, the Australian government has grouped countries into assessment levels. These levels have specific visa criteria that must be met in order to receive a visa to enable students to study in Australia. Before applying for a visa, international students must carefully check their country assessment level and relevant financial, health and other requirements (e.g. English Language Proficiency) for Education Sector subclass 574 Masters/Doctorate. Refer to the International Admissions website for details. See also English proficiency requirements |
