Application ID Number

Applicants must contact Vesna Nikolovski to obtain an application ID number prior to lodging the application. To obtain an application ID number send your request via email to vesna.nikolovski@adm.monash.edu.au together with details of which Monash academic unit you are applying through.

Submission of application

Applicants are required to submit the following by the closing date:

• An electronic copy of the application (data file). Refer to Section 21 of the User’s Manual for details*;
• Single PDF file which includes all attachments. Refer to Section 9 of the Advice and Instructions to Applicants document for details;
• Hard copy of the application (including the PDF file of attachments). The application must include original signatures. Note: The Monash Research Graduate School will complete the Certification by Head/Nominee of Administering Institution section of the application before submitting the application to NHMRC.  The Head of the Administering Institution is Ms Fiona Zammit, General Manager, Monash Research Graduate School.

* Applicants are required to click on the 'Submit to RAO' button when they have completed the application. Pressing this button will package the information in the form into a data file (.xml). Do NOT convert the data file to a PDF file as MRGS will be unable to submit the application to NHMRC in this format. Email the data file (.xml) together with a single PDF file which contains all attachments to Vesna.Nikolovski@adm.monash.edu.au. If you are having difficulties refer to section 21 of the 'User's Manual' for instructions on how to submit the application. The PDF file must contain all academic transcripts, research proposal and any other attachments as required. Refer to the 'Advice & Instructions to Applicants' and 'User's Manual' for relevant details.  

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria, as well as any additional criteria specific to the scholarship type, as outlined in Section 6 of the Funding Policy. To be eligible to apply, applicants must, at the time of application: 

• be Australian citizens or permanent residents or New Zealand citizens holding a Special Category Visa. Applicants who have applied for but not yet been granted permanent residency or a Special Category Visa may apply for the award. Evidence of the appropriate status must be provided before the start of the award
• be enrolled or be intending to enrol in a doctoral degree (with 100% research component only) and 
• have made prior arrangements with the Head of Department or Institution in which they propose to study.

Reasons for ineligibility to apply include, but are not restricted to, the following:

• applicants in the final year of an honours degree and  
• applicants already in receipt of an Australian Postgraduate Award or equivalent Australian Government funded scholarship.
