International applicants

Fees for international students

Please note that for international students proposing to commence postgraduate studies in 2010, any offer of a Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS), Monash Silver Jubilee Postgraduate Scholarship or Sir James McNeill Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship is conditional upon the awardee’s ability to meet the full tuition fee costs for the duration of candidature, or upon offer of a tuition fee-paying award, for example: Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS), Monash International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (MIPRS), Vera Moore International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VMIPRS), or other award which pays tuition fees.

International students in receipt of a tuition award

International applicants who are in receipt of a tuition award (IPRS, MIPRS, VMIPRS) will not be required to pay a deposit or course fees. On receipt of the written acceptance of the scholarship offer and notification of the Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA) approval from the Australian Embassy where applicable, the university will provide the awardee with an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) to enable the awardee to obtain a student visa to enter Australia.

International students in receipt of an MGS only

International applicants who are awarded an MGS only, must pay a deposit on acceptance of the offer of a place and will be liable for course fees for the duration of the course. The deposit includes:
the full tuition fees for one semester and the overseas student health cover.

A single payment combining both components must be paid by bank draft, credit card or money order to Monash University.

Course fees for 2010 for research masters and doctoral degrees can be found via Coursefinder.

Applicants from countries within assessment levels 3 and 4 will need to take the offer letter to the Australian Embassy in their country and apply for a PVA (refer to the International website for visa information). When the PVA is approved, the applicant must pay the deposit to International Recruitment Services.

International Recruitment Services will then issue the Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) form. This, together with the offer of a place, is required to enable the Australian Overseas Mission to issue the appropriate visa. The deposit will not normally be refunded, except in those cases where the offer of a place is withdrawn or in circumstances considered by Monash University to be exceptional, such as inability to obtain a visa (for reasons other than lack of fee payment) or serious illness.

The university reserves the right to withhold a proportion of fees paid in accordance with the Australian National Policy on Fees Refund: Overseas Students.
