Faculty RTS funding up to and including 2005

Since 2001, allocation to faculties was as follows:

• Returning EFTSL was estimated on the basis of funded EFTSL in the previous year;

• Funding for commencing load was calculated using a formula based upon the RTS formula used by the Australian government to allocate places nationally (ie 50% completions, 40% research income and 10% publications);

• Any unused RTS load was redistributed to faculties with funding shortfalls by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and the Director, Monash Research Graduate School, in April each year;

• A discretionary number of RTS places was retained by the university and was allocated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) according to faculty requests for additional funded postgraduate research places to support their strategic objectives.
