    1.    ‘Future-Proofing Australia - Rising to the Challenge of Climate Change'

    The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) is holding its Annual Symposium in Brisbane, Queensland.  The title of this year's Symposium is ‘Future-Proofing Australia - Rising to the Challenge of Climate Change'.

    Thanks to the generosity of Symposium Sponsors - Monash University, University of Queensland, University of Western Australia and BP - ATSE is pleased to be awarding Early Career Symposium Fellowships to researchers (including students and those within 3 years of their PhD award) who are developing a career in the scientific and technological industries.

    ATSE Early Career Symposium Fellowships will be awarded on a basis of merit and potential to contribute to Australia's technological industries' future - to early career scientists, technologists and engineers who would benefit from attendance at such a symposium.  The successful candidates will be invited to attend the Symposium and contribute to the conclusions.  Selection is by competition, and those awarded fellowships will receive complimentary registration, travel and accommodation.

    3.    Trauma Melbourne 2009

    Trauma Melbourne 2009 is a two-day Trauma Conference in November 2009 offering a program of multidisciplinary clinical and research presentations. The conference theme for 2009 is "Optimum Trauma Intensive Care Management" and "Critical Decisions in Critical Care Management" and was chosen for its broad professional appeal. This two-day conference and associated workshops will focus on trauma and intensive care management, drawing expertise from the medical and scientific communities predominately within Australia and New Zealand.

    4.     International Student Research Forum 2009 - Griffith University

    Griffith University is pleased to invite you to the fifth International Student Research Forum (ISRF) bringing together international research students from Australia, China, India, Japan, Puerto Rico, Russia and the United States to present their findings in the field of Bio-Medical Science.

    This year's ISRF will be held at Griffith University, Gold Coast campus, Queensland, Australia. It will officially begin with a student reception dinner on Sunday November 22nd and will conclude with a closing ceremony on the evening of Tuesday, November 24th

    5.   The Fourth Australian Conference on Artificial Life

    The Fourth Australian Conference on Artificial Life (ACAL09) will be held at the University of Melbourne from 1-4 December 2009 in conjunction with the 22nd Australasian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI'09) and the Australasian Data Mining Conference (AusDM).

    The Program Committee of ACAL09 invites technical papers on substantial, original, and unpublished research on all aspects of Artificial Life and Complex Adaptive Systems. Special sessions are being organised on Artificial Ecology and on ALife Art.

    6.   The 22nd Australasian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence

    The AI 2009 Program Committee invites submission of papers for the 22nd Australasian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI'09). The purpose of the conference is to promote research in AI and scientific interchange among researchers and practitioners in the field of AI. The conference is hosted by Monash University's Faculty of Information Technology and will be co-located with the Australasian Data Mining Conference (AusDM '09) and the Fourth Australian Conference on Artificial Life (ACAL'09).     The Institute of Education and Research (IER) at the University of Dhaka is organizing an International Conference on Child Friendly Inclusive Education. The theme of the conference is "Making the School Effective for All".

    8.     oikos / PRI Young Scholars Finance Academy - Call for Papers 2010

    Responsible investment is going mainstream. More investors than ever before are incorporating environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues into their investment processes, and engaging in dialogue with companies to improve corporate ESG performance. Investors now clearly recognise new opportunities and their vulnerability to systemic issues in the economy, from poor risk management to climate change.

    The second oikos PRI Young Scholars Finance Academy provides a platform for the next generation of investment researchers to tackle these emerging issues. The Academy will gather leading academics, practitioners, exceptional graduate students and young faculty around the theme of mainstreaming responsible investment.

    To allow in-depth discussions and intensive learning processes, the international Finance Academy is limited to 15 PhD students and a maximum of 5 practitioners. The Academy will focus on advancing the PhD and post-doctoral projects of successful applicants by providing a forum for the presentation and discussion of research projects. Participants will also receive feedback from noted academics and professionals from the investment community including Dr. Danyelle Guyatt (Mercer), Steve Lydenberg (KLD) and Steve Waygood (Aviva Investors). Building on the efforts of the PRI Academic Network, faculty and young scholar project presentations will be integrated with practitioner sessions in an effort to stimulate greater dialogue between the investment community and academia.

    Application

    Graduate students and young faculty are invited to apply with 1) a cover letter explaining their motivation to participate, 2) a CV, and 3) an abstract (max. 2 pages) of their PhD or research project. All applicants will be notified by Nov. 15. Full papers (10-15 pages) must be received for circulation to Academy participants by December 30, 2009.

    Practitioners are invited to apply with a letter of motivation. Applications must be received no later than Oct. 30, 2009 at: finance@dont-want-spam.oikosinternational.org.

    9.   Academy of World Business, Marketing and Management Development Conference

    The Academy of World Business, Marketing and Management Development (AWBMAMD) is delighted to announce its 4th Biennial refereed conference that will be held on the 12-15 July, 2010 in Finland.
