    Responsibilities of the GRC

    The Director of Monash Research Graduate School (MRGS) chairs the Graduate Research Committee (GRC), which is a university-wide body that is responsible for:

    • advising the Academic Board on all matters of policy relating to doctoral and the MPhil programs and research scholarships and awards
    • administering the University's doctorate (PhD, professional and higher doctorates) and MPhil programs, including admissions, variations to candidature, examinations, supervision and academic progress
    • administering all research scholarships and grants
    • approval of all HDR new research courses and units and amendments to existing programs.

    The primary concerns of the GSC are to encourage excellence in research and timely completion of doctoral and MPhil theses.

    The committee is supported by the Monash Research Graduate School. The General Manager's office can provide further information.

    Steering Committee/GSC Executive

    Many of the day-to-day activities and approvals are undertaken by a Steering Committee, headed by a convenor who is also the Deputy Director of the School and chairman of the GRC.
